Stacey Champion doesn’t like what’s happening to Roosevelt Row. Champion runs her Champion + PR Consulting out of a house that doubles as an art gallery at Sixth and Roosevelt streets in Phoenix. In that area there used to be more than a dozen art galleries and spaces in the Roosevelt Row area just north of downtown’s business district. Now, there are four, Champion said. …»

Well, the initial reports are now complete for September, and we can see that the strong first half of the year for housing did not lose momentum as the kids went back to school and temperatures cooled. Jerry Simms, who owns the Turf Paradise horse racing track in Phoenix, says he’s buying a retail center in the Desert Ridge area of Phoenix for $17 million cash. Simms is also an active real estate investor in the Arizona market. Simms says he’s buying the Shade shopping center near Tatum Boulevard and the Loop 101 freeway in north Phoenix.
