Healthcare Trust of America buys Phoenix medical complex Healthcare Trust of America Inc., a Scottsdale-based real estate investment trust, has paid $32 million for two medical office buildings with a parking structure in Phoenix. The Desert Ridge Medical Campus is a 118,000-square-foot medical complex at 21300 N. Tatum Blvd. with a two-level parking structure. Chicago Cubs deal with Mesa on hold a while longer The long-awaited consummation of Mesa’s relationship with the Chicago Cubs is on hold for a few more weeks. The City Council initially had been scheduled to vote this week on a series of agreements governing the baseball and entertainment complex to be built on what is now Riverview Golf Course. Arizona economists revise job figures lower President Barack Obama admitted today the U.S. economy has come to a halt, and Arizona economists apparently agree. State job forecasters have revised lower expected job gains for this year and 2012. Arizona Department of Administration economists said today they expect the state to end 2011 with a net gain of 15,500 jobs. The same economists said in April they expected the state to gain 17,300 jobs. View article…

KPMG Survey: Economic Recovery? Not Until 13 or Later A recent survey by audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG falls in line with most other economic reports in the early part of October 2011: Things are slowly improving, but a real recovery is still years away. In its survey, the firm polled senior executives in commercial real estate on their outlook for the coming months, and many are starting to see improvements. A full 64 percent saw current revenues above their 2010 levels, and a further 75 percent anticipate higher revenues in 2012. View article…

CoreLogic: Arizona home prices down 10.7%
Home prices for the Phoenix metro area have declined by 9.8 percent in the past year, according to data released Oct. 6 by CoreLogic. Statewide, prices are down 10.7 percent. The data are calculated from August 2010 to August 2011 to show a year-over-year depreciation percentage. View article…

Arizona No. 2 in housing growth over past decade Arizona is the No. 2 state in the nation for the growth of total housing units from 2000 to 2010, according to new U.S. Census Bureau data. Arizona had 30 percent more housing units in 2010 than it did in 2000. View article…
