WinCo Foods opens 2 discount stores in Glendale, Phoenix Discount megastore WinCo Foods opened its first two Arizona locations last weekend, including one in Glendale that fills the longtime vacant Costco Wholesale building on Bell Road. Winco opened at 9 a.m. Sunday in the nearly 130,000-square-foot building on the northeastern corner of 59th Avenue on Bell Road. NE Mesa apartment complex in doubt It’s billed as a groundbreaking, green, sustainable housing development. But a lot of the neighbors don’t want it. Mesa’s Planning and Zoning Board said no. And now the City Council will decide whether it lives or dies. Milwaukee Brewers staying in Maryvale The Milwaukee Brewers have reached a deal with the city of Phoenix to keep the team’s Spring Training in Maryvale. The deal could keep the Brewers in west Phoenix for two or three more years or longer. It calls for $1.5 million in city money to renovate and improve some facilities at the Brewer’s Arizona home.
