MBK Senior Living Acquires Country Club at La Cholla MBK Senior Living has paid $31.9 million, or about $143,000 per unit, for the Country Club at La Cholla, a 223-unit senior living facility at 8700 N. Gilbert homebuilding continues to surge Gilbert issued twice as many new-home construction permits in fiscal 2012 than in the previous year, providing more evidence that strong residential growth has returned to the town after a lull during the recession. For more than a year, Gilbert has outpaced any other Valley community in new-home building, and the trend grew stronger as the town entered a new fiscal year July 1. Gilbert issued 2,323 single-family permits during fiscal 2012 after issuing 1,138 the year before, according to statistics provided by Development Services Director Greg Tilque. View article…

New gated community in Scottsdale meets pent-up demand Windrose Estates residents in Scottsdale have a home where the buffalo used to roam. The infill development of 23 homes at 94th Street and Sweetwater Avenue is built on Collin “T.C.” Thorstenson’s former buffalo ranch. Homebuilder plans less-expensive units for Surprise Asante development Lennar Communities Development Inc. plans to add less-expensive homes, small shopping centers and townhouses to Asante, a master-planned community in Surprise that was supposed to be a luxurious showstopper. The zoning changes could revive construction in the sprawling $1 billion community, which was crippled by the housing crash in 2007. View article…

Redfin: Rising Demand, Falling Supply Driving Home Prices Up Real estate broker Redfin released the June results of its Real-Time Home Price Tracker, showing home price increases in nearly all 19 major U.S. markets. The tracker showed an average year-over-year price gain of 3 percent across all major markets and a monthly gain of 2.6 percent. Sales volumes also rose year-over-year (a 7.4 percent increase) but fell 1.1 percent month-over-month. View article…

ForeclosureRadar: Foreclosure Sales Down in Western States ForeclosureRadar issued its Foreclosure Report for June on Wednesday, revealing that foreclosure sales fell significantly in the three largest foreclosure states in the company’s coverage area. According to the report, foreclosure sales in California were down 13.4 percent over May and 48.8 percent over June 2011. Arizona and Nevada also saw a downturn in sales, showing month-over-month decreases of 18.5 percent and 14.6 percent, respectively. View article…
