Mirador Apartments Sell for $31.1M Eaton Vance Investment Managers sold the 316-unit Mirador Apartments multifamily complex in Phoenix, AZ to Weidner Apartment Homes for $31.1 million or approximately $99,000 per unit. Surprise lands Southwest Products for new facility, 100 jobs The city of Surprise has landed Southwest Products Corp. for a new manufacturing facility that is expected to bring with it 100 or more employees. The city expects a $10 million capital investment for the diesel engine supplier that would be moving its operations from Phoenix. Surprise will give incentives in the form of $130,000 in permitting fees, a reimbursement of $90,000 in impact fees once the building is occupied, and has agreed to host a joint job fair. The latest Metro Monitor Report from Brookings, which looks at 2012 first-quarter data, shows Phoenix moved up from a No. 9 ranking in the previous quarter. View article…
Phoenix-area Home Prices Continue to Soar Market Also Has Short Supply, Increase in Foreclosures Phoenix-area home prices have been zooming up for months, and the streak continued in May. However, a new report from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University takes a closer look at the short supply of available houses, an increase in foreclosures, and a possible leveling off of skyrocketing prices this summer. The report on Maricopa and Pinal counties reveals: The median single-family home price went up more than 32 percent from May 2011 to May 2012. The overall housing supply dropped by 50 percent in the same time frame. The number of completed foreclosures of single-family homes and condos combined went up 18 percent from April to May.
